Christian Baucom: Found Dead In Pond 7 Months After Twin Brother

Christian Baucom, Missing Child, Found Dead In Pond 7 Months After Twin Brother

Twins share so much in life, but one twosome is tragically sharing more in death.
Christian Baucom, a 6-year-old child with autism from Colony, Mo., was found dead in a pond Wednesday afternoon, just 200 yards from where he was last seen and just 7 months after his twin brother, Jason, also drowned in a different pond, WGEM-TV reported.
Several law enforcement agencies and volunteers searched for Christian after he went missing Tuesday afternoon, but local authorities believe this latest incident was an accident, KMOX-TV reported.
The boy did not live at the house by the pond where he was found, but was last seen playing by the house.

When a child with autism wanders, it's crucial to stay a step ahead

When a child with autism wanders, it's crucial to stay a step ahead

FRIDAY, March 23 (HealthDay News) -- The Oertel family lives in a red-brick, two-story house tucked in a tree-lined, suburban Maryland cul-de-sac. There's no fence, just a small alarm company sign on the lawn that gives no clue to the system's real purpose.
The array of bolts high on the front door, the upgraded locks on the patio and garage doors and the "burglar" alarm are meant less to keep out intruders than to prevent 15-year-old Luke Oertel from silently leaving.
Luke has a moderate form of autism, a developmental disorder that affects a child's social interactions, language and behavior. He is among those with autism who wander without a typical child's sense of fear or danger.
In June, Luke outsmarted a system of combination locks and wandered five miles away, through the early-morning rush hour, taking a pedestrian underpass beneath a heavily traveled road off the Capital Beltway.
Last year, "autism wandering" became an official diagnosis in the United States with its own medical code. Some of those afflicted enter strangers' houses. Others end up in traffic or on train tracks. Many find their way to nearby pools or ponds.

Cell Phone Jammer - Impede Autism/Alzheimer's Tracking Systems?

Cell phone jammers are ILLEGAL, yet folks have still been able to acquire and use in public settings. While it may shut up loud talkers, it could also impede the ability to keep track of our disabled loved ones. Many GPS based tracking systems are accessible via smart phone and can even send out alerts when the person leaves a certain area, etc. In addition to blocking our ability to access these systems, it could also interfere with GPS signals. All in all, not a good thing for autism related tracking systems.

Is the Philadelphia Cell Phone Jammer a Hero or Pest?

“While some people who use jammers may think they are only silencing loud conversations or disabling unwanted GPS tracking, they could also be preventing a scared teenager from calling 911, an elderly person from placing an urgent call to a doctor, or a rescue team from homing in on the location of a severely injured person,” Ellison said. “The price for one person’s moment of peace or privacy, could very well be the safety and well-being of others.”
